Your first adventure

Your first Obsidian build.

Start equipped. Play familiar content. Earn your first Core and turn it into a perk you can actually use.

  1. 01

    Choose your adventure

Open Journey in the quest tab. Pick Combat or Gathering, then use the home Teleport Master to get started.

  2. 02

    Earn your first Core

Finish 10 monster kills or 25 successful mining, woodcutting or fishing actions. Claim your Apprentice Core in Journey.

  3. 03

    Forge. Read. Equip.

Make an Apprentice Tome at the Forge. Read it to learn the perk, then manage your active perks in Equipped Tomes.

Combat route: search Goblin at the home Teleport Master and choose a low-level destination. Bring your starter weapon and food.

Gathering route: start with copper/tin ore, normal trees or shrimp. Mining, woodcutting and fishing actions can be combined to reach 25.

Your reward: the personal Apprentice Core is guaranteed when you complete your chosen path. It is a once-per-character reward, not a tradable or recyclable free gift.

Make the build your own

The Equipped Tomes tab shows your active effects. Swap learned perks for your next activity; the Upgrade Altar develops your existing equipment.

Apprentice Combat

Adds 5% Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Magic and Hitpoints XP. After 15 damaging hits against combat NPCs, restores 1 Hitpoint when injured; the charge waits at full health. No PvP, damage or attack-speed bonus.

Apprentice Gathering

Adds 5% Mining, Woodcutting and Fishing XP. Every 10 standard ore, log or fish gathering successes grants 1 extra matching resource if inventory space permits, with no bonus XP or Obsidian roll.

Either recipe costs one Apprentice Core, with no essence or catalyst. Reading the tome learns the perk; it equips automatically if you have a free perk slot. Use Equipped Tomes to change your active selection.

Make the next build yours

A goal beyond your first tome.

Plan a compatible loadout, work on your weekly board or prepare for an expedition. Your account and Gielinor progress stay permanent.

Weekly Challenges and Find a Group are in Journey > Next Steps. Weekly material rewards are capped; missed days do not reset your character.
